Dispatcher Console or Radioserver Service fails to launch
SQLExpress fails during installation

Dispatcher Console or Radioserver Service fails to launch
Recommendations:
- Check sound cards are installed on the PCs.In case when both dispatcher console and radioserver are installed on the single PC, the PC must have 2 sound cards installed.
- Check that operating system on the Radioserver PC is Windows XP.
- Check sound settings in Windows Control Panel, Microphone should be enabled on the sound card.
SQLExpress fails during installation
- Make sure Windows user name and Computer name are different.
Database is not created on Dispatcher Console
Recommendations:
- Check “Database Server Name”. Read carefully the comments under “Database Server Name” textbox. Computer Name can be found in “My Computer” property window. Make sure to specify only the first part of the name (up to the first dot) without domain name.
- Check Authorization Mode. By default it should be “Windows NT Authorization”.
- If you install SmartPTT Dispatcher Console on Windows Vista, make sure to set checkbox ”Add user to the SQL Server Administration role” in “Configuration options” window, while installing SQL Express 2005.
- Database Name should not start with digit or contain spaces.
- Database name should not be “database”. This name is reserved by SQL Server.
No connection between Dispatcher Console and Radioserver
Recommendations:
- Make sure both SmartPTT Dispatcher Console and Radioserver are successfully installed.
- Check network connection between Dispatcher Console and Radioserver. Try pinging Radioserver from Dispatcher Console.
- Make sure that network settings on both Radioserver and Dispatcher are properly specified. Use Radioserver Configurator on Radioserver side and “Radioservers” configuration window on Dispatcher Console.
- Make sure that all ports and IPs specified in Radioserver Configurator are not blocked by some firewall protecting Dispatcher or Radioserver PCs.
Can’t hear voice calls on dispatcher console or subscriber radio
Recommendations:
- Check the radios using CPS (control station and subscriber radios). Make sure you can hear voice on control station when you do a call from subscriber radio and vice versa.
- Check that cable for connecting control stations to radioserver was properly done (cable preparation guide is on SmartPTT web site)
- Check sound settings on Dispatcher Console and Radioserver. If several sound cards are installed on Dispatcher or Radioserver PCs it is necessary to specify corresponding sound cards.
- Check the Microphone. It is possible to do, for example, using Windows Sound Recorder.
- Check the Microphone level control in Dispatcher Console. If the control is disabled please do following steps: Open “Settings / Sound Settings”. In “Audio Input/Input Line” combobox choose “Microphone”. If Microphone level control is still disabled, choose “Recording Level” in the combobox.
Voice calls are working, but sound quality is inacceptable
Recommendations:
- Tune Microphone level on Radioserver and Dispatcher Console using Windows Control Panel
- Turn off Microphone boost using Windows Control Panel
Telephone subscriber can hear its voice in response from dispatcher
Recommendations:
- Disable “Stereo Mixer” in sound card settings using Windows Control Panel
In Dispatcher Console, “Online” subscriber tree shows Radioserver, but no control station is displayed under the Radioserver
Recommendations:
- Control Station should be successfully connected to radioserver (Check Windows “Network Connections”, it must contain corresponding connection “MotoTRBO Radio” with the state “Connected”)
- Check Control Station settings in Radioserver Configurator. They should correspond to the Control Station settings specified by CPS
Subscribers are always “Offline”
Recommendations:
- Verify MotoTRBO subscriber radio settings by CPS. ARS and TMS parameters of subscriber radio must be the same as Radio ID of Control Station
GPS Coordinates are not displayed on a map
Recommendations:
- Make sure that “Map” checkbox is set for the subscriber
- Check subscriber radios firmware. Recommended firmware version is R01.07.02
Channel name of control station is displayed in dispatcher console as “1:0”, “1:1”, “1:2” etc.
Recommendations:
- Use Radioserver Configurator to make sure that channels specified for the control station correspond to the channels programmed by CPS
“SmartPTT Radioserver Service” is not started automatically on Radioserver reboot
Recommendations:
- Launch Registry Editor (Regedit.exe)
- Open “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control” folder.
- Create “ServicePipeTimout” key of DWORD type and assign it 600000. If this key already exists, update its value to 600000.
